About & Privacy
About this site — and your privacy
Who runs The Bridge, how we keep the content honest, and exactly what happens with your data when you use the site (spoiler: nothing — this site collects no personal information).
About
What this site is
The Bridge is an independent, English-language reference site for foreigners visiting, living, working or studying in China. It is run by an independent webmaster (the same team behind the Chinese-language guide site). Every factual page is written in plain English, dated with the day it was last checked, and links its key claims to official Chinese authorities — the National Immigration Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs consular service, visaforchina.cn, the China Scholarship Council, and other government sources.
Free to read
All guides and pages are free, with no paywalls and no ads. The site is supported voluntarily: see the Support page.
Official sources only
Key claims carry a Verified · official source link or are clearly marked Summary general guidance. We do not invent figures.
Corrections welcome
Rules change and we miss things. If a link breaks or a statement seems off, contact the webmaster (see below) and we will check and correct it.

All cited official documents remain the property of their respective authorities. The site's own text is original; if you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, contact the webmaster and it will be reviewed promptly.
Disclaimer
General disclaimer and legal note
Everything on this site is general information for reference only — not legal advice, and not an official source. Immigration, visa, work and residence rules change frequently; before you act, always confirm current requirements with the official Chinese authorities (National Immigration Administration, the Chinese embassy or consulate handling your application, visaforchina.cn, and the relevant ministries). Official Chinese government publications take precedence over anything stated here. Everything on this page is subject to the latest official information — official sources prevail.
